At Federal Funding Solution, we help governments, nonprofits, universities and for-profits uncover federal funding opportunities to meet their needs, with a special focus on forecasting upcoming grantmaking. We create specialized federal funding plans for our clients.
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency is expected to release the latest application for the Fire Prevention Grant Program (CFDA Number: 97.044) by the end of March. Approximately $36 million will available, with grants up to $1.5 million awarded.
The program supports projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards. The primary goal is to reduce injury and prevent death among high-risk populations.
Fire departments, nonprofits, including universities and public health, occupational health and injury prevention institutions may apply for fire prevention programs and firefighter health and safety research and development.
Keep in Mind: FP&S funding comes from receiving a portion of the larger Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (CFDA Number: 97.044). AFG funding goes for firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and certain emergency management agencies. Awardees use these funds for equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles and training to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
The funding process has already started for AFG grants, with applications due March 8 (https://www.fema.gov/grants/preparedness/firefighters/assistance-grants/documents). For this year’s competition, $324 million is available with FEMA expecting to make 2,000 awards.

The National Endowment for the Arts hopes to start grantmaking for its FY 2025 Our Town Grant Program (CFDA Number: 45.024) by early June, with an August deadline attached.
The “creative placemaking” grants program supports activities integrating arts, culture and design into community development activities. Grantees will engage a range of local stakeholders to advance local economic, physical and social outcomes in communities.
Competitive projects generally focus on unique local conditions, authentically engage communities, center equity, advance artful lives and lay the groundwork for long-term systems change. Nonprofits, governments, tribes and universities must partner to submit applications.
Grants will range from $25,000 to $150,000, with a minimum nonfederal cost share/match equal to the grant amount.
Potential applicants should keep in mind that NEA holds webinars and question and answer sessions once the application process begins. In the meantime, applicants can get a sense of strong proposals by looking at last year’s webinar and Q&A materials (https://www.arts.gov/grants/our-town/applicant-resources).
